Welcome to Meet My Heart Day, formerly called Meet the Teacher. Today was Meet the Teacher. I saw the faces of my upcoming 22 little loves and I couldn’t help but think… This is the moment God starts to open my heart up to the little learners that I met tonight.
Let’s Break Down the Truth
First, are they going to listen? Nope.
Are they going to sit still? What a joke.
Are they going to be perfect?
No, and that is the most beautiful part.
Now Let’s Break Down More
Then…
Are they going to learn? Yes.
Are they going to be engaged and stimulated? I hope so.
Are they going to love creating, making messes, and making discoveries? For sure.
Are they going to laugh at my humor and give me the nicest hugs? Oh, I can’t wait for this stage.
And More than Meet the Teacher
Next…
Are they going to be loved? Without a doubt.
Are they going to feel my love and compassion for them? This is my goal.
After all, this is the best way to teach… through their hearts to get through their minds.
Are they going to work their way into my heart? It has just begun…
but oh… how it will grow and grow.
Meet My Heart
So… Let’s rename “Meet the Teacher” to “Meet my Heart” because this is the day you meet the faces and glimpse into the souls of the students who will certainly find their way into my heart very quickly.

Just how much do I LUV you, Mary?
LOVE this! Thank you for sharing!
My heart is so full reading this. Please continue to be an amazing teacher with a kind heart and one who is not afraid to nurture children. Here’s to another wonderful year. Hugs…from one heart to another.♡
The last day of school, I bawled like a baby. One of my students who has autism became my favorite student. I became really attached. She was moving out of state and it was hard for me to let go. She had become one of my own children. Not to say that I don’t love all my students, she is just one of the few that got in my heart early on and stayed there. Not every year do I have that one student but this year, I was lucky to get to know her. We both learned a lot that year. We are keeping in touch through facebook with her mom.
