While in the Halloween section this year, I came across some FUN Halloween Circus Animal Cookies. Not only were these cookies prepackaged, BUT a perfect learning tool to make so many fun activities. I knew what I had to do… make a learning pack for these Halloween Circus Animal Cookies.
Halloween Circus Animal Cookies
First, grab these cookie packets. I found a set of 30 presealed bags at Target. You can look at Dollar General or even your grocery stores. Here is a link to them on Amazon so you can see them, but look locally for great prices.
These cookies can be orange and white. They are bats and cats. And there are two types of cats, some are sitting and some are standing. Overall, so many options for this.
Ideas for Halloween Learning
Now, let’s walk through how much learning fun you can have with a simple pack of cookies. We can cover so many FUN math skills using these cookies and many of them you can use as assessments tool.
One major skill teachers can tackle is sorting. You can use these mats for sorting my animal or color. Since my kinders have to be able to sort in a variety of ways, these sheets cover this standard with ease. And I don’t think my learners will mind the cookies one bit.
You can check out so many of these sorting mat options here. You can use the ones that are best for your learners. Best yet, you can pick an option that is best for your learners this year and still pick another option that is better for your different learners other years.
Many times we like to do table sorts like the ones shown above. These work great if you can’t find the individual bags of cookies or for a family setting. This year, individual sorts may be the best way to go in the classroom.
Graph the Halloween Circus Animal Cookies
Still, another math skill you can cover is graphing. Once we sort the cookies, we can take the cookies to the graphing paper. We can easy see which one has the most and the least… but more on this is coming.
Now, let’s work on comparing numbers. (This is a skill we are working on now.) Students can lay the cookies down and compare the amounts. Then, they can circle the correct symbol.
You can see the three types of comparing number printables.
No Cookies, No Problem!
Finally, I know that some of you have students who can not use these cookies or perhaps you are not allowed to use food at all this year. I created these printables to take the place of the cookies. There are two levels of each type of printable. So many options that I am hopeful there is a good option for you!
