David Shannon Author Study {Part 2}

David from No, David books

Do you adore David Shannon as much as I do!?!

After using the book No, David! to discuss titles and book covers,
we used the sequel David Goes to School to discuss what happens in the beginning of a book.
We recall the story story and write what we remember happened in the beginning.

We also practiced drawing our illustrations like David Shannon…
using LOTS of colors,
filling the pages with the illustrations,
and matching the image to the words we write.
What happens at the beginning of the book?
Here is another example of some AMAZING writings and illustrations.

The next day we used the book David Gets in Trouble.
We use this book to discuss more than the beginning of the book,
by expanding the parts of the story to the Beginning, Middle, and End.
David Gets in Trouble B, M, E of the book
Of course, both of these books come with their own reading comprehension game…
