Welcome to my favorite, most awesome, amazing, and inspiring post of the week…
okay, well… maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but I love putting this post together so I hope you love reading it. I decided to give this post a little face lift… an update… a new look.
I can’t wait to read how much you like it {or hate it!} so let me know what you think.
{And I really hope you love it.}

This week my class learned about the letter Kk, Veteran’s Day, the -all family, the sight word play, and we worked on building teen numbers and comparing numbers. Here are my weekly work centers.
Yellow- Math- We worked with these koala mats. They had ten frames of
eucalyptus leaves on either side of them. My students counted or used
number sense to compare the ten frames and write <, >, or =. {I
encouraged students to use the nose of the koala to help form the
symbols needed.} One version compared ten frames for numbers 0-10 in red
and another version compared ten frames for numbers 11-20 in blue.

Orange- Writing- We used these mats to practice letter Kk formation. You
can tell my kinders are not perfect writers, but we work toward
increasing our muscle memory everyday. I love providing practice using
this paper laminated and writing with a dry erase marker.

Red- Reading- this center was a TON of fun. We took the Veteran’s cards and put them in ABC order. {I already has this activity prepped, but I updated this pack to add the Coast Guard.}
This skill is not easy, but with a little practice, we were successful. I love tying it Social Studies terms to reading as well. Most of my class can now read Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines like pros. {This is part of my Celebrate Veteran’s Day pack.}

Blue- Unit- WOW! Say hello to blue. I didn’t plan on changing the format of these posts until after the pics were taken so I had no clue the smurfs were taking over! Any who- We used these cards to match the ten frame to the teen number. I worked with my students on using the set of then and then counting the ones to find the number.

Green- Unit- My class is officially and completely in LOVE with Fill in the Ten Frame activities. I have to make extra copies because so many kids choose to do this activity more than one time because they think it is fun. We predict the winner by circling the picture we think will win. Then we roll the foam die and color one ten frame in for each image we roll, practicing one to one correspondence. The first image to get its ten frame filled in WINS and that image gets colored in.

Don’t forget to leave me a comment… yes or no to the facelift?
I like the new format. Looks like you had a good week. Thanks for sharing!

Love the "new" center Saturday. I really enjoy seeing what other teachers are doing in the classroom. You always have such great ideas to share. Thanks!
