Center Saturday on Sunday

November 3, 2013 by Mary Amoson Leave a Comment

Since Freebielious posted and hop all about the Winter Bundle we are offering, I couldn’t post about my weekly centers yesterday. I am going to make up for it today for sure!
{I can’t miss my most favorite post of the week!}

This week we learning about the letter Jj, building teen numbers, the -ig family, and pumpkins and other Halloween things.

Yellow- Math- We make number sets using jelly bean ten frames to match our jellybean jars. We made numbers from 0-20. {This is part of my Letter Jj Pack, which is part of this bundle.}

Orange- Writing- We labeled the parts of a pumpkin using this writing nativity sheet from my Write Me Three Fall Pack and the word wall it comes with. {Scrappin Doodles just released a new pumpkin image that shows the inside and out of a pumpkin so I will be updating this image to the new one to make it even easier for labeling.}

Red- Reading- we put the Jj jewels in ABC order. This skill never gets old. {This is part of my Letter Jj Pack, which is part of this bundle} There is actually a pattern to these as well, so I like to see who can figure out the pattern. Most kids don’t notice it, but my autistic students see it every time.

Purple- Phonics- We sorting the Gg and Jj words on this mat. This is a great skill because many of my students know the letter g can make more than one sound. This helps their brains “get” the difference in the words. I had to make this because I couldn’t find any Gg and Jj sorts in any books and my kids needed the practice. {This is part of my Letter Jj Pack, which is part of this bundle}

Blue- Unit- We made teen numbers using already filled in ten frames. We knew one set of ten was already there, so we had to count the other set to build the teen number. {This is from my There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat Math Unit, which is part of this bundle}

Green- Unit-  horrible picture but it is ship with -ip words on it. We have to look at the picture and write the -ip word that does to it. This idea and sheet comes from a Mailbox book on word Families.

I hope these center give you a few ideas on some fun things to prep and plan for your own class soon.

I am presenting soon on center idea for the classroom. Since you are my target audience… what are some things you would WANT to be included in a center presentation? What are questions you have about centers and how to make them successful? I want to make sure my audience gets all their unasked questions answered.
