Center Saturday

April 6, 2013 by Mary Amoson Leave a Comment

Hello all.
Here are my weekly work centers from this past week (before my break) while we learned about
-Letter Zz
-ing family
-Easter

Remember to look at the border color on each picture and match it to the description below.
Yellow- Math-I made these bunny subtraction years ago, but heck.. they still work. I took Bunny notepads and added subtraction problems. I also added dots to two or the four groups to differentiate. I also made each set of subtraction problems with a different color marker. After laminating, I hole punched one side and put a binder ring around it. My students write on them with dry erase markers.
Orange- writing-Since we learned all about Yy last week and my kids are STILL not writing neat lower case ys, I made these handwriting sheets focusing on the last few letters we have learned about. The fact is, I do not accept handwriting that shows NO EFFORT. You may not have neat handwriting, but I better see the best effort.
Red- Reading- I got this worksheet from The Mailbox/ Teacher’s Helper. Students will write in the -ing to send each word. Then they color the words that are REAL words. This was a great practice on real and nonsense words for some time.
Purple- Phonics- I also made these eggs years ago. I made copies of some Mailbox and added them to some eggs. Students have to write in the initial and final letter to make the CVC words. {I really need to just make a fun Easter pack with all these activities so you guys can use them… maybe next year?}
Blue- Unit- This was week 3 of the Paddy Potato Project. Since we had Spring Break this week, so I know the roots and eyes are growing and will show great changes. I can’t wait to record the changes in our books.
Green- Unit-We painted these eggs with watercolors. We traced and egg shape onto white paper. THEN.. this is the important part… we use GLUE to draw a design onto the eggs. Then let them dry completely. Each egg had a different design on it. When each kid colors on the egg, the design shows. You can also try this with those wax crayons that come in the egg dye kits, but this words great.
I have some BIG plans for the next week of school.
We are learning about plants. I am using the book
Tops & Bottoms

This is a seriously CUTE book with a great lesson, easy extention activities, and
AMAZING pictures. I LOVE THIS BOOK.
I even made a reading comprehension game and writing prompt pack to go with it!

here on TpT

We always play these activities on Wedensday… So I know my kids will LOVE it.
I have to record myself reading this book this week for listening to reading station, but no biggie. They listen to the books I read way more than the ones I buy. Go figure!

Do you record yourself reading books for your class to listen to?
