Time Saving Tips

September 9, 2013 by Mary Amoson 3 Comments

Time Saving TipsSometimes we forget those little time saving tips… then we remember them!
I want to kick myself for overworking sometimes when the solution is so easy!
Here are a few teacher time saving tips for a new school year to keep in mind.
Let’s start with that art center that is so much fun but can be so much work…
First, soak paint brushes in water for easy clean up
Paint Brush Clean Up Tip
Yeah… I soak them overnight and they clean up so easy!
It takes less than 2 minutes to get all 10 brushes clean and ready to go.
I lay them out to dry and done!
Also, line your cups with baggies! This makes clean up a BREEZE.
Try using a baggie in a paint cup This tip hit me like a ton of bricks when I saw another teacher doing it… DUH!!!
Once the brushes are clean and the baggies are changed out,
I get my cleanup crew helper to assist me in wiping out the tops and art center is DONE!

What about the listening station?
Yeah, my kids don’t look at those discreet symbols on the player… so
use color coded stickers for you listening stations. Color Code the CD Player
I cut these stickers in half because the buttons were so small.
I also wrote the symbol on top of the color because I want my kids to learn them as well. TIME saver!
Now, onto a writing center.
What do you do when you can’t laminate a writing sheet or you {forgot} to laminate it and now you don’t have time…
Use a Page Protector Instead of CopiesPlace a paper inside a page protector when you can’t laminate.
It works just as well and you can use the paper.
LESS COPIES.
The best thing is… you can reuse the page and the page protector!
I store my writing centers in these page protectors because they are so thin anyways. Just an idea.
I also only allow my students to write with black dry erase markers. They seem to erase so much easier than the colored pens.
Here is another tip to save the prep time, esp if you cut multiple pages of the same thing at the same time!
 Staple before cutting
When cutting out multiple pages at one time, use a staple in the area you will cut away.
This staple keeps the pages aligned.
DUH!!! This is so much easier and makes the cutting lines so much cleaner. SCORE!
Since you staple in the area you will be cutting then throwing away, it is a double win!
What time saving tip should we add to the list?
