Sight Word Stations~ Primer {With a Giveaway}

April 27, 2014 by Mary Amoson 53 Comments

http://www.kreativeinkinder.blogspot.com/Do you check out my guest post on the incredible
Kreative in Kinder blog today?
I absolutely adore Crystal, as I am sure you do as well.
I mean, how could you NOT adore her???
Crystal and I are teaming up today to show you my
Sight Word Stations~ Primer version!
Let me show you the amazing work my
have been doing with this set of Sight Word Stations.
{And keep in mind,
the idea of this pack is to give you too many options for stations
that you can pick and choose which ones you are going to use.}
When I left off on Crystal’s blog, I showed you how I prepped all my stations and stacked them.
I give my students 10 minutes a day to work with their sight words.
They usually become high engaged and want more time.
Here are my
 working on their sight words.
{And remember, they do this completely independent of me!
They grab their baskets,
get to work, and
clean up with little to no direction or instruction from me at all.}
Here are my busy bees playing MEMORY with their sight words at the yellow table.
The orange table was dedicated to SENTENCE SCRAMBLES.
 I love the sentence scrambles because
I made sure to include previously used sight words
as well as the current sight words.
 Since each week comes with 3 sets of sentence scrambles,
it is great to put at an independent table for students to sort.
At our red table, I put the sentence scramble WORKSHEET at a seperate station.
{The 3 sets of cut apart sentence scrambles have 3 matching worksheet options that match!}
Here is one of my

  working hard to glue, write, then color their sight word sentence.
Our purple table is ALWAYS a hit!
We use WATER COLORS to write our our sight words.
 I put this station on the closest table to my sink
so my little learners have easy assess to fill and empty their water cups.
I also mark small plastic cups with a Sharpie line
 to show them how much water they need to use.
These cups can go into their baskets or stay by the sink, when they are wet.
They also have to leave their papers hanging up to dry using these magnets on our back door frame.
 {These are the button magnets found in the craft section of most stores.}
Our blue table was SECRET CODE WORDS.
My students broke the secret code to create their sight words.
Then they use the QR code option to check their answers.
 Green table is also a favorite.
My kids LOVE to Roll and Write their sight words.
 They take this large foam die and roll it.
Whatever sight word ends up on TOP is the word they write on their graph.
They pass the die and keep playing until one sight word reaches the top and WINS.
I also have a few more sight word centers that are not at tables.
My pink station is on the carpet and uses these Travel Doodle Mats and sight word tent.
 {I got my mats at Walmart for MUCH cheaper.}
My
 set their sight word tent up and practice writing their sight words.
You could also so this station with dry erase boards or so many other choices.
I make a few extra copies of activities of some of the Sight Word Stations
and keep them on hand.
My students are known for finsihing their stations before Friday
because they love them so much.
I can quickly change out a station with one of these backups…
or I simply add one of these activities to their Daily 5 rotations.
Another station I provide is a READ ALONG activity.
Listening and Following Direction skills
are so important at this age and are such a challenge.
Each week, I take the audio file I PROVIDE in each pack and
make a CD for my listening and following direction activity.
 Here is how I do it on a PC.
I open up the my Windows Media Player {right}
and my weekly files from my Sight Word Stations pack {left}.
 I move the audio file from its location to the BURN tab on Windows Media Player.
{See it as the music/wav file moving over?}
I put it under the ‘Burn List.”
 Then, I insert a black CD and select “Start burn.”
These steps take less than a minute to do.
The computer burns my audio file to a CD.
I label it with a sharpie and place it in my listening station.
You can get all my Sight Word Stations {PrePrimer, Primer, and 1st Grade}
 in bundled packs to save you time and money, or get them week by week.
 I have bundles and weekly stations for:
 https://sharingkindergarten.com/product/sight-word-games-stations-preprimerbundled/   https://sharingkindergarten.com/product/sight-word-games-stations-primerbundled/https://sharingkindergarten.com/product/sight-word-games-stations-first-gradebundled/
 {If you click on the bundles,
you will see the weekly break down listed on the product description.}
Okay… super long post…. tons of info and pics…
so how about a giveaway to make it all worth it?
