Welcome to Center Saturday.
This is the weekly post I put together to show you guys what work centers my class completed this week.
I take pictures and tell you about the activities to {hopefully} inspire you guys to make a few FUN and educational centers in your classroom.
This week we learned about the letter Yy, -est family, and we have been reviewing Presidents and US Symbols. {Remember to look around the edge for the color to match it to the description below.}
Yellow- Math- I always have a few extra pots left over from the leprechaun visit. I took a few of them and hot-glued a number on them. {I couldn’t get the number to stay on any other way.} Then I look two-sided counters and wrote addition problems on the yellow side. Students had to complete the addition problem and put it in the correct pot.
Orange- Writing- My students completed a Write Me Three sheet about The Liberty Bell. They had to write three things about the bell. This student wrote, “cracked, big, heavy.” This is from my Presidents’ Day Unit Plans.
Red- Reading- not shown- yeah… I forgot this picture! We sorted bird nests with -est words on them to match the words. I will try to remember to take a picture of them and add it here. It was a good reading and picture-matching review.
Purple- Phonics- we sorted these pictures of yarn by the initial letter. The choices were V, W, Y, and Z on two mats. My kids are struggling with the W and Y sound confusion so we work on it every day! This game came from a sorting book by Teacher Created Materials.
Blue- Unit-We completed this Label It! Flag activity. They did this completely on their own and ROCKED it. I was very proud. This is from my Presidents’ Day Unit Plans.
Green- Unit- We sorted the US Symbols. I think this picture is a little hard to see with the dark blue. (I color code the pieces for easy student use. There is a yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, and green set.) They put the pictures of US Symbols on the left and the pictures that are not US Symbols on the right. This sorting game came from The Mailbox Magazine.
I own BOTH versions of these books and I LOVE THEM.
{I can’t remember which addition this sorting game is from.}

You always have the most amazing ideas and activities, and they are just right for my kinders. I just so happened to have that book with the CD, and I read it to my kids Friday, and they all loved it! Especially the last part where he says "I'm looking for me brother", they just got tickled. I would love to win this set. Thank you for sharing your products. My email is pks0221@suddenlink.net
