Hi guys! How is your fall going? I am LOVING the GA fall weather ALMOST as much as the kids are.
LAST week, we covered the Letter Ii, which is part of this bundle.
There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat, check out this bundle.
and we are working to make teen numbers using tens and ones.
Yellow Table
Our yellow table was all about using these Bat themed ten frames to make teen numbers.
One ten frame was full and the other is empty…
so
had to start at ten and count on to fill the next ten frame to make the teen number.
See?
And remember my management trick?
I have 4 identical card sets copied onto different colors of copy paper.
Each student at that center chooses a color and gets to work.
Easy Peesy.
Orange Table
Orange table was this BONE sorting activity… {and a freebie}
then we graphed the pieces
and labeled the parts to make a skeleton.
Red Table
Red table was a FUN FALL matching game.
We matched the number to the number word. Each student has to match their squirrel with the number word to the matching nut.
Here is another set of the cards.
Blue Table
But our blue table was a hit. It was the Old Lady Fill the Ten Frame Game,
which part of this bundle. We started with this…
which part of this bundle. We started with this…
And I asked my
to roll the die and to WRITE in their numbers
answer until they filled the ten frame…
answer until they filled the ten frame…
like this:
Yep… we still flip numbers.
Practice makes progress.
And practice that is fun like this doesn’t FEEL like work!
Green Table
Our green table was a fun activity…
It is a secret code word set I made that uses QR codes to self check work!
My little ones use the code breaker sheet to write the names of the nocturnal animals,
identifying numbers was the skill.
When they are done, they scan the code and check their work.
I also included strips, which are exactly the same, but larger, for those who wanted to use them.
Worksheet or strips… open choice… which all students LOVE.
As you can see… we had a TON of fun learning.
Here are the packs I used this week.
Your centers always seem like fun! I wish I had a time like this in my first grade class. Have a great day!!
Alyce
It is absolutely worth the time I invest in these activities for my learners. This is my math time and I little loves get LOTS of practice this way. Maybe you could do this once a week for 30 min? Like a fun friday?
Love it, Mary!
