Welcome to October.
I love this month’s learning themes of fall, pumpkins, nocturnal animals, and perhaps scary fun.
{We are allowed to do Halloween themes at school! WOO HOO!}
This week we learned about the letter Hh, the word look, sorting and the number 8, and Columbus Day.
My centers are color correlated so look at the colored border and read the description of it below.
Yellow- Math- This week we filled in the missing numbers on these hot dogs. Since we are working our way into learning about the teens, we practiced this skill from 1-20.
{Hh Activities is part of this bundle.}
Orange- Writing- We filled in the alphabet using these fun Hh handwriting sheets. I like to do these types of activities in addition to learning about our letter of the week so that I can see what letters my kids already know and can write. I also think it helps their brains work out tricky letters like Bb and Dd.

Red- Reading- We are STILL working on the color and number words. This is a squirrel/ nut game that helps my students learn their number words. Students read the number word and place the nut on top of it with the matching number.
Purple- This was an awesome syllable practice activity that I need to make more of. We go over the terms that have to do with Columbus. Then, my students have to clap out the syllables. They place the words onto the column that shows how many syllables it is.
Blue- Unit- I LOVED this activity. It is a scarecrow writing activity that my kids were able to do independently. They label the parts of the scarecrow.
Green- We put the Columbus Day words in ABC order and then recorded them into differentiated sheets. My awesome assistant did this with my kids this week to make sure they could do it.
None of these centers lasted too long because we had to make our class pumpkins for the Fall Festival. We were almost completely finished by Thursday, which was perfect. I am trying to find a picture of the class pumpkin to post, but I forgot to take one.
It glows in the dark, so my kids thought it was “super awesome.”
This week we used these packs:

We had a great fall festival and I got to be in the DUNK TANK for 15 minutes. It was so much fun! The weather was great and the water wasn’t too cold. S, my oldest daughter, came with me to the festival and got to dunk me! She keeps asking if I am mad at her for it. I had to explain that I chose to get in the tank and I expected to get wet!
I will see if someone took pictures of that for me to share with you guys too!
LOVE Center Saturdays!!!
