Give the Trucks Some Tags
First, since the trucks were trucks, I added some simple rectangular Avery Labels to the front and back of each truck, just like a real truck. Then, on the front of each strike, I took a -ck word and broke it into the onset and rime. Students can practice putting these sounds together or breaking them apart when they open and close the truck egg. What do you think of this truck-themed learning activity?
Chunk and Check The Truck Egg Word
Inside each truck egg, I placed an Avery circle sticker with the correct answer inside it to help self-check. You can skip this step if you want to, or you could add two stickers for them to choose between both images. This example shows a sock image in the truck.
Now, on the back of each truck, I added a small sticker with a number on it. This creates the perfect numbered activity for a response sheet for this truck egg learning activity. WOW look at this Truck-Themed Learning Activity.
Check out these precious truck eggs all in a basket, ready to go. This is how they will be presented to students at a learning center.
Response Sheet for Truck-Themed Learning Activity
To play students grab a truck and check the number on the back. They sound on the word on the front of the egg. Next, they check their word inside the egg. Finally, They color that word on the response sheet to match which truck they are using.
I love the idea of coloring the correct answer with the same color truck. I plan to make each pink truck the same word, but you could easily mix and match. Also, keep in mind that you can use this same idea but use traditional Easter eggs if you can’t find truck eggs as well. I have response sheets for truck eggs and traditional eggs.
