October 10, 2013 by Mary Amoson Leave a Comment

Last week we worked on the letter Hh.

H is for hat
Here are some of the FUN and hands on activities we completed to learn all about the letter Hh.I love to use these Alphatales books.

They have a full color version then a book of printable copies for your students.
{This is a great tool to teach them to listen to reading AND turn the pages.}

We also hunt for capital and lowercase Hh letters in these printables.

We also use these letter Hh readers.

Here is a glimpse of our letter Hh phonics…
digital style.

We also sorted Hh and Aa words using this printable.

And a follow up Hh sorting activity.

Hh hive sound sorting

Just because we are covering a letter sound doesn’t mean it can’t be cross curricular.

Here is some fun haystack ten frames printables.
This version give students the number and has them
color in the ten frames.
H number sense
There are two versions. The first version is 0-10 numbers.

Check out this type of ten frame activity.

The back has numbers 11-20.
This was harder for my students.

Perfection is not required.
Attempting and learning is all I ask for.

And we practiced number writing. There are 4 mats.

This one is hay

and a horse version.

We also played number word matching… heroes style.

Here we are playing memory.

We filled in the missing numbers to 20 using the hotdogs, which was a FUN challenge.
I used this number chart to help those who needed number support.

I love seeing my students as they write two digit numbers, esp those teens!
We have talked about the patterns numbers have like 1 1 for 11, 1 2 for 12, 1 3 for 13…

And here is another FUN activity for counting.
These hens in the hay need to be counted up!
