Christmas with a FREEBIE

November 15, 2012 By Mary Amoson 2 Comments

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bell

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell Integrated Activity FUN! It hit me today… I have to start planning for Christmas this week!

When I leave school on Friday, I have to have all Thanksgiving put away and have my lesson plans
for the week we come back from the break! {Breathe… Breathe…}
Good thing I have been busy making activities for when we come back!
Here is just a glimpse of what I have made so far!
Since I try every hard to tie in Reading to my Social Studies unit, I am using the book…

http://www.amazon.com/There-Was-Lady-Swallowed-Bell/dp/0545043611/ref=as_sl_pc_ss_til?tag=sharinkinder-20&linkCode=w01&linkId=N46RR67DK5JE3JN7&creativeASIN=0545043611

There Was and Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell.

First, these are the activities we use during reading centers and daily 5.
We read the story and use the cards to put the parts in order. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/There-Was-an-Old-Lady-Who-Swallowed-a-Bell-Unit-403420

I made this sequencing sheet to review story sequencing and ordinal numbers.

We use the book for prompting and support to help.

Next, we also use the cards as a visual cue for our reading comprehension game.

My students RUN RUN RUN to this station.
They adore it.
And it is a great way to keep data points for RTI folders in a FUN way.

This game is awesome because we use reading questions
from the book to move our pieces along the game.
And boy do we get competitive.

More so, another station we ADORE is the Listening and Following Direction activity to color this picture.

This week seemed to be the longest and slowest all This week seemed to be the longest and slowest all at the same time. In science, we dove into the water cycle. On Friday, we got to try some simple (covid friendly) science experiments. We melted colors ice cubes to show states of matter changes. Then we did small cups for sink float. We predicted if each item would sick or float, then tested out. We can choose f2f or virtual this week, so I only had 12 in the room with me and 8 at home.
