List of chapter books to read to kindergarten students

Looking for Chapter Books Kindergartens Love? Reading aloud to Kindergartners is a treasured time for the teacher and the students. It is hard to get five and six-year-olds to sit still for a few minutes, but reading to them is a great way to engage them and get them to want to attempt self-control. Let’s break down some awesome Chapter Books and Book Series Kinders love that are tried and true!

Chapter Books Kindergartens Love

Please note, I put these in ABC order of series. I also want to note that I am looking for a great series that has a main character MALE with any type of diversity. If you know of one, please let me know so I can check it out and add it to the list AND to my classroom library. Students deserve books and characters that represent themselves in print.

Dog Man Series

Firstly, this series will not stay on the bookshelves in my classroom. Your students will LOVE reading this and following along with the stories. Don’t let the size of the books full you. Your students will not want you to put it down UNTIL you hand it over to them to read.

Junie B. Jones

Next, this book series is about a very funny, outspoken new Kindergartener, Junie B. Jones, and her experience in Kindergarten. My favorite part of this book is the mispronunciation of words like Valentines. Be warned: you want to edit out the words like dumb and stupid when you read this to your classroom. These books will have you giggling along with your class.
