Oh this week flew by me! I made my centers this week knowing my students didn’t have a lot of center time to dedicate towards since our science unit was a little more this week and we had fun St. Paddy’s stuff to do! We also had no school on Friday, so quick work centers it was!
This week we worked on the letter Vv, Forces and Motion, St. Patrick’s Day, -old word family, and so much more.
Here is a picture of the weekly work centers my students completed this week.
Yellow- Math- We did this eraser graph using St. Patrick’s Day-themed erasers. You can grab this sheet {here} for free. It includes a picture of the erasers I used and where I found them. My students had to make the graph and then answer questions about the results for me.
Orange- Writing- I am trying to move towards more independent writing as the year progresses but we still need so much practice with handwriting. I am always torn about which they need more! This week we did the Pot of Gold Secret Code Words, which is part of this bundle. Each student had to complete three pages of pots, 12 words each. They also had to read the word to me. They did amazing and had so much FUN with it. Many students returned to this station or did more than the required sheets. One kid even made me promise to make more of these with harder words for her. (Um… okay… no problem with that here!)
Red- Reading- We used our -old family words on pirates to treasure chests of gold. Students had to match the picture to the word. The students also had to read to me their words. (I made two sets so students could work in pairs with this.) Using fun accents and notepads always makes these games more fun and inviting for your students. And I have to admit… I enjoy checking the center when it is colorful more as well.
Purple- Phonics- We sorted blends with the “l” sound in them. The sounds were bl, cl, fl, and pl. Students also had to tell me the words here. They are getting really good at reading and writing blends thanks to some TLC with blend sorts and blends charts.
Blue- Unit- We circled the largest number of Shamrocks. I like to review certain math skills often to keep the concept in my head. (Like time, money, numbers to 100, and number sense.) You can get this activity here.
Green- Unit- Oh green table. You will be the home to our growing potato for the next 6 weeks. (Yes, I am serious. We are growing potato roots.) My students have to journal what they see happening with the potato once a week for 6 weeks. I grow a “gross” potato at my house for a few weeks before and bring it in. This was week one. Check out how to do this {here} for free!
My little girl, S, has her first soccer game today! {Yeah, we don’t know anything about soccer!}
She is 4 so we are trying this sport out.
We practice for 30 minutes, play for 30 minutes (without keeping score) and then get a snack!
I will post a picture of her “dress up” as a soccer star soon! Wish us luck!
Your centers are so organized!
I am having a “Spring Break Bucket List” linky party…stop by and link up!

Hi Mary- I love the graph with the erasers! Very cute! I downloaded it, and can see the picture of the package of erasers, but where did you get them? I'd love to possibly find some for next year.
