Center Saturday

February 15, 2014 by Mary Amoson 1 Comment

I am running about a week behind on my Center Saturdays thanks to all this bad, wet weather here in GA! We have been out of school so much… we are playing catchup too much!

I did get this cute button made in honor of my favorite weekly post!
And I had to get my sandbox kids on this blog… they missed you guys!

Here is an overview of the centers we completed in centers.

In math, we completed these 100 mats. I love using these because my kinders have to think about number and their patterns in order to put these numbers in order. They were color coded so each student had a different color mat. That made organizing and completing this station easy. Clean up was no problem either.
For writing, we used this Groundhog Write Me Three & More sheet with word wall.  My kids loved using the word wall to make their paragraphs about the groundhog. Of course, they all wanted Spring to come early.{It is not looking like that is going to happen here in ice covered GA!} This pack can be found in my Groundhog Day Mini Unit.
In reading, I look this configuration station from Carl’s Corner and added a sun to it… and made it a little more inviting and fun than a regular worksheet… and it works every time. The sun made it more fun and the ran to it.
Our phonics station was a s blend sort. This was a little hard for my kids but it is a great way to get them to stop and think about those blending sounds. I like to do these activities because when they go to write blends, I don’t want to see just an “s” I want to see an “sn.” {This activity is part of my Ss activities pack, which is part of this bundle.}
One of my unit centers was a gr write the room activity using groundhogs hidden in the room… and anything that allows them to grab a clipboard and hunt around the room is always a win!
{This is a part of my Groundhog Day Mini Unit}
And our second unit center was this groundhog vocabulary page. Student look at the terms and draw a line to where it is in the picture.

At computer centers, we used this Computer Center Sheet.

I hope this gives you some amazing ideas of center fun!
