Back to School Book Freebie

August 1, 2013 by Mary Amoson 10 Comments

Today is the start of new Scholastic Book Orders!
{You can’t order books during the month of July.}
Each year I buy a cheap book from Scholastic to give to my students for Meet the Teacher.
I put each book on each student’s desk along with a little note asking them to read the book as “homework” for the night before school starts.
I wasn’t able to find a $1book in June, but here is what I did find in the SeeSaw September Catalog!

So.. grab the cheapo book and download this freebie to get a cute note to send home and you are all set for Meet the Teacher.

If you have enough points, grab some copies of The Kissing Hand as well… it is a great price.

Here are some books I recommend using for the night before school starts.
(And yes, the freebie has notes to go home for ALL these books!)

    What a cool idea! I may totally be copying you! What a great way to emphasize to parents, right from the start of the year, the importance of building literacy in kindergarten, and the necessity of their involvement in that process! Thanks for sharing!!!

    Thank you! I'm not in K this year (back and forth between K and 1), but will definitely be saving!

    This is such a sweet idea! Families rarely have a "going to school" book in their home and this is a great way to get them lacking about the first day. Thanks for sharing the cute notes ๐Ÿ™‚
