Center Saturday

For math- we played this Cookies for Santa game. My students get their
plates of cookies. They circle the biggest number, cross out the
smallest. Then, they have to use ANY number on the plate and compare
them using the boxes at the bottom of the plate. The comparing statements at the bottom of the page is hard, but it can be optional. {Christmas Time Part 1}

In Writing, my kiddos did the is awesome Santa Write Me Three activity. The use the word walls to write what Santa does in the box then finish the sentence using the other word wall. Best yet, my kids were able to do this my themselves. This is a freebie writing prompt you can grab here.

For our reading center, we read number words and color words and drew a line to them in the picture. It is fun and makes my kids THINK about the colors and numbers. {Christmas Time Part 1}

In the phonics center, we sorted the robots with pictures on them into sound boxes to sort Rr, Ww, Pp, and Bb.

My kids played on of there favorite games ever… Fill the Ten Frame. My students circle the picture they want to win. This allows them to predict the winner and cheer for a particular image. They roll the foam die and color one square per role to practice one to one correspondence. The first image to get filled to ten is the winner and they color that picture. Then, I added a square to each image so they can count the number of squares filled for each number to allow them to practice counting and writing their numbers. I seriously have to make tons of extra copies of theses sheets because my class likes to play it many times. {There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell}

And last, our unit center was a Want/Need comparing sheet. This was hard because my kids still think they NEED things likes toys, etc. It cracks me up! We work on it and work on it. We will still have to come back to this idea many more times this year. {Christmas Time Part 1}
