Last week we worked on the Water Cycle.
I enjoy this week because there are so many FUN science experiments with water that help us think and learn.
I also love this week because we are able to integrate great books that connect science and literacy.
Here are some of the books I love to use this week.

Here are some of the science activities we investigated using the water cycle.
We book small {shoebox sized, because they are cheap and easy to store} bin
and experimented with sinking and floating. I like to use clear containers because my kinders like to see from the size what happens at the bottom, esp when lots of hands are in the way.
Plus, some items stay in the middle and that is cool to check out too.

I have different size ships, sponges, an eye dropper, penny, cork, button, pencil, plastic spoon, and a little of everything else for them to experiment with.
{I also bring up taking a bath and what kid of bath toys they play with here to show my little wonderfuls how much they already know about sink and float.}
We also wanted to learn how else water can change things.
Do you remember this dollar store picture?
I grabbed some of the grow capsules so my students would see how water can change things.
I got one princess set and one wild animal set.
I put my kids in groups of 4 and I gave each kid in the group a different color “pill.”
We placed them in our water cups and counted to see how long they would take to change.
It took several minutes… but man can my kids count and count.
They never took their eyes off those cups!
Each student got a different object/animal and they adored the whole process!
We also did a small {I am trying to figure this whole thing out and do it right} STEM activity. We had to problem solve how to make ice faster.
My students wanted to test out putting cups of water in the fridge and freezer to see which would freeze first. They also decided to put different amounts in each cup to see if that would make any difference.
What a fun week learning about water and ice.
And I JUST finished creating a Print & Play dedicated to The Water Cycle.
