Gather Your Supplies for the Dollar Store Snow Globe Parent Gifts
First things first, letโs grab everything youโll need:
- A snow globe (I found mine at The Dollar Tree) You can grab some online here.
- A picture of each studentโs picture (I use PowerPoint to print the picture on both sides and print the copies back to back.)
- Scissors
- Super glue
- fake snow
These are inexpensive gifts with a personal touch that parents and guardians will treasure. Bonus points for being creative and affordable for these gifts from students to parents.

Prep the Studentโs Picture
The next step involves preparing your studentโs picture. We took pictures of each student blowing snow, a cute pose that fits perfectly with the holiday season theme. Hereโs how to make it work:
- Edit and Print:
- Upload the studentโs picture to your computer.
- Resize the image to 2.6 inches tall (adjust based on your globe size).
- Print the photo onto cardstock for durability.
- Double-Sided Option:
- Place the first image in the center of your document.
- Create a flipped version of the image on the back for a seamless double-sided effect.
- Print carefully to align both sides.
- Cut and Trim:
- Cut out the studentโs picture. If the double-sided print isnโt perfect, trim slightly to align the images.
If the double-sided step feels tricky, donโt worry! A one-sided image will still look amazing and make an excellent gift.
Apply the Picture Inside the Snow Globe
Hereโs how to secure the picture inside the snow globe:
- Bend the bottom of the picture slightly to create a base.
- Apply super glue to the bent section and attach it to the globeโs plastic insert.
- For added stability, cut a small slit toward the pictureโs base, fold one part forward, and one part back. Glue or tape these sections for a firm hold.
This step ensures that your studentโs picture stays securely in place inside the snow globe which is important for these gifts from students to parents.

Add Fake Snow
Now itโs time to add some winter magic! Since we printed the pictures on cardstock, we opted not to use water in the globes. Instead, I chose dry, fake snow.
- Tip the globe upside down and sprinkle in your snow.
- Insert the plastic piece with the studentโs picture.
- Seal the globe tightly with the lid.
This creative way to personalize the globe makes it a wonderful gift for parents.
Add Ribbon and Final Details
For an extra special touch, measure each childโs height and cut a ribbon to match. Tie the ribbon around the base of the globe for a meaningful detail. You can also add free printable gift tags with the childโs name and a holiday greeting.
Optional Extras and Favorite Ideas
Want to make these even more memorable gifts for students and parents? Here are some additional ideas:
- Add a small candy cane or attach a gift card for a practical gift.
- Incorporate tissue paper squares or white glitter for a festive flair.
- Pair the snow globe with simple cards or a coupon book made by older students.
Why Snow Globes Make the Best Gifts
These snow globes are one of my favorite parent Christmas gift ideas. Theyโre easy to assemble, cost-effective, and packed with sentimental value. This holiday gift idea is perfect for any classroom and will surely be a big hit with parentsโ faces lighting up when they see the thoughtful gift their child made.
Happy teaching and happy gifting!
The last piece of the project is a piece of ribbon for each child. We measured how tall each child is NOW and we cut the ribbon to that size. Now, we will tie the ribbon around the bottom of the ribbon as a detail. This is just an extra special step. Click here to head to this article.

Which program did you use to flip the image?
I Used PowerPoint. I tried Canva this year, but couldn’t make it work as easily as PowerPoint.
