Description
Pilgrim Jobs Writing Activity: Students use cards to write about their contribution to the settlement at Plymouth. Next, they write about how their job. After reading a book to my class, we begin to talk about how each Pilgrim has to do their job to help the whole group. They were so engaged… I had to create something to dig deeper.
To help my students get the big picture, I created these JOB cards to assign my students jobs like the pilgrims would have. Additionally, they can use their card to write about how they would contribute towards the settlement at Plymouth. After giving each student a job, they should write about how their job helps everyone.
To use- print as many of the cards as you desire to ensure that each student gets one card. Then they “act out” their job in the room and discuss their role. In small groups, complete the writing activity to reinforce the Pilgrim’s life and work ethic.
There are 4 cards on each page stating the following jobs: cook, gather, build, hunt, farm, gather, scout, and sail.
The prompt writing states:
I am a pilgrim. My job is to _____. It is hard because_____. My job is important because_______.
