100 Must Have Social Stories

September 16, 2017 by Mary Amoson 8 Comments

Must Have Social Stoies

A staple in every lower elementary library should be a bin of ready to grab must have social stories. These can be read once, or time and time again to help teach a lesson of social skills. They are great for one on one lesson, small group reteaching methods, and even those whole group “we gotta get this together” meeting. There is a collection of 100 social stories you can use for many if not all needed situations in your lower elementary classroom.

I provided Amazon Links for your convince. (Grabbing those books on Prime and getting them to your house asap is always helpful.) I highly recommend checking out Scholastic for their deals as well. I can usually find many of these titles for GREAT prices through Scholastic.

Must Have Social Stories

1- How Full is Your Bucket- One great book to share with a whole class is How Full is Your Bucket? for Kids. My oldest daughter’s class read this book two years ago and still remembers the big picture lesson of filling buckets for others and what fills her bucket.(Amazon)

2-The Interrupting Chicken- Another staple in every room. We read this book several times a year. (Amazon)

Must Have Social Stories: Julia Cook

Social Stories by Julia Cook

I simply adore any and ALL books by Julia Cook. This author creates amazing picture rich, engaging stories about topics that cover actual classroom situation and student needs. She covers sensitive topics that I never expected a book to cover, such as bathroom issues. I put her collection of books in ABC order because honestly, she just makes so many great books about topics you would never think an author creates. Plus, you may not always know what you need until you come face to face with a situation or resource for a situation!
