Books About Nuts & Squirrels for Kindergarten

When teaching about fall changes, one theme to keep your little learners intrigued and interested in Books About Nuts & Squirrels. We usually teach this topic after apples and it is interesting to see the similarities and differences between nuts and apples. Check out this collection of books about nuts and squirrels for Kindergarten.

Nonfiction Books for Squirrels

Here are some fiction books that are fun additions to teaching young learners about nuts & squirrels.

The Busy Little Squirrel By Nancy Tafuri (Amazon)

I had to list this book first because it is a fast read and has always been a class favorite.

Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watt (Amazon)

Next, this book is a series that students love.

Squirrel’s Fall Search by Anita Loughrey

This book was a Barnes and Noble sale find for me and apparently this video reader as well. It is cute and fun.

The Squirrels Who Squabble by Rachel Bright (Amazon)

Earl The Squirrel by Don Freeman (Amazon)

Finally, this book was a gift to me by my husband years ago and my kids adore it. It only has three colors in it: black, white, and red. Because of this, my students were intrigued.

Fictional Books About Nut

I Want That Nut! by Madeline Valentine (Amazon)

This book will get your class smiling. I love the illustrations. And I think it does a great job with bigger words.

We Need More Nuts! by Jonathan Fenske (Amazon)

The Golden Acorn by Katy Hudson (Amazon)

Then, this is a newer title that I know your learners will love. It is great when you can find social stories in a themed book collection.

The Nutty Nut Chase by Katheryn White

This title is an older one, but it is so cute. My class adores it and uses this book as a listening station.

As I stated before, social stories that are themed are always welcome in my classroom.

Nuts to You by Lois Ehlert (Amazon)

This book is classic and so sweet. I recommend it if you are a fan of Lois Ehlert.

Fictional Books

I always highly recommend using both fiction and nonfiction books in the classroom. Many nonfiction titles may be easier to find on Scholastic, but I recommend them because they are picture rich and packed with facts.

Let’s Look: Squirrels (Amazon)
