During our Daily 5 times, we worked with the book, The Perfect Nest, by Catherine Friend.
This book is so much fun and I love teaching with this book close to Easter since it is all about eggs and chickens and new life. My kids LOVE this book and so do I.
(I wish I could have recorded their faces when I told them their stations today… they ran to them!)
SO many kids asked me to write more than one prompt. AND I had to promise several NOT to change the Listening to Reading station tomorrow so they could hear the story again.
{Seriously… if you do not have this book, grab it NOW.}
Here is a glimpse of what we did today and what my kids wrote.
Here is my mini unit with the game, writing prompts, and word wall included.

Have you ever read this book to your class?
{With or without the accented voices from the book? Tell the truth!}
Do they love it as much as my kids do?
This book sounds wonderful. Have you seen the nest art project where the kids paint a small paper plate brown and then sprinkle it with strips of brown paper and glue down half a plastic egg upside down. Glue on eyes, wings and beak. it's really cute and would be perfect with this project.
