Scavenger Hunt and Scarecrow Glyph Ideas

September 7, 2012 by Mary Amoson 2 Comments

I have had a GREAT week at work! I am telling you what… the things my kids say at school CRACKS me up! I die laughing often… very often.
In my efforts to make anything and everything educational and FUN…
because let’s face it…
no one wants to do things that are not fun… we did something excited yesterday.
We used the app FirstCamera
to take a scavenger hunt around the school looking for living and non living things.
(This app saves the pictures only to the app file and not the photos on the device.
This makes it easy to use, erase, and,  in this case, count the pictures needed.)
My assistant took half the class and I took the other half.
Each child got to take a picture or two of something they found.
We talked about whether it was living or non living.
The discussions were AMAZING… the pictures were just a fun tool to capture the ideas flowing.
All in all… my kids know all about living and non living things.
Here are some of the pictures of what the other group found…
I chose this picture because it shows you some of the students photos…
and how they are captured on this app. I also chose this picture, because this group WON. They found 32 items.
My group lost, but still found 27 items.
I also created a FUN Scarecrow Glyph for my class and hopefully yours!
here on TpT
I added a B&W and color premade glyph sheet and the same for a blank glyph sheet.
I will be using the color version for my hallway display.
I also created a colored sign for hallway display too!
I am hoping to have many more scavenger hunts and glyphs this upcoming year…
as well as a TON of fun.
What funny things have your students say this week?
