Read, Fund, Cover… Game on for learning fun!
Picture this: The last day of school before Christmas break. Daily 5. I am working with students. My students are reading three and four letter words and matching them to the picture. This is the exact activity we were doing from my Polar Express Plus unit.
My kids don’t want to actually read the letters and put together the sounds they make to form words. They want me to tell them every single word they don’t easily know. {Yeah right… I am NOT going to do that! You have to try here!} I got an idea to make reading and matching even more fun and inviting for my students.
So after I cleaned up Christmas from my classroom, after I prepped all my lesson plans for the first week in January, and after I put the girls to bed after this LONG trying week of school, I had to create this pack. I couldn’t stop until it was done. I created a CVC game that is easily differentiate and a TON of fun. Best yet- the idea is to work on those basic common core standards of reading CVC words and rhyming.
Here is a picture of the 4 ways you play this game. {Each group can play different versions or you can have your students play each game to build their CVC and rhyming word knowledge.
1- Read the word and match it to the picture.
2- Read the word and match the rhyme to the picture.
3- Match the rhyme to the rhyme using picture cards.
4- Write the word and match it to the picture.
Each game comes with an “I Can” sheet, word circle cards, and uses the Read, Find, Cover mat.
I also included worksheets support for each activity.
Here is a peek at all four.
I got a new laminator for Christmas {woo hoo woo hoo woo hoo}
So here I am laminating this set so my kiddos can have a blast reading, finding, and covering!
Here is the first Read, Find, Cover pack. It works on CVC and Rhyming words.

Here is the next pack of the Read, Find, Cover. It works on CVVC and Rhyming words.
{Although this isn’t an actual standard, but we cover this words all the time in K.}

I hope you are having a FUN break as well… and getting ready for the second half of the school year!
These look amazing!
