Classroom Organization

July 31, 2013 By Mary Amoson 4 Comments

 I have to admit that I have an organized classroom.
AND I hope I have a few tips to help you set your room up for success.
This summer linky party is the perfect what to get inspired to get organized this upcoming school year.
 First, I have all my units stored into weekly tubs. These files are full of hands on activities, art projects, and manipulatives… so they don’t “fit” in a filing cabinet. These tubs are small enough for me to lift and move around and I love that everything for that week is in its own bin.
And I do have a LOT bins… at least 36! I am guessing it is closer to 40 since Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Easter have more than one bin.
You can absolutely start judging me now!
I plan out my lessons by the week. Here is a picture of my weekly bins and filing cabinet.
{I store my letter files and math skills in a filing cabinet.}

The last bin is dedicated to storing my extra copies or activities for the week.
You never know what to expect in K so I always like to be overly prepared…
and I never have trouble finding a sub since they all know I will plans ready to go.

    I just went to Michael's and bought 2 fabulous organizers. One was originally$99 . It was on sale for $29 and then I got 20% off of that. It has 9 bins on the bottom and a shelf on the top. Then I bought a 10 drawer organizer too. Both of them together were $55. Now I just have to clean and organize so they'll fit. This will be my first year using Daily 5. My 30th year in kindergarten.

This week seemed to be the longest and slowest all This week seemed to be the longest and slowest all at the same time. In science, we dove into the water cycle. On Friday, we got to try some simple (covid friendly) science experiments. We melted colors ice cubes to show states of matter changes. Then we did small cups for sink float. We predicted if each item would sick or float, then tested out. We can choose f2f or virtual this week, so I only had 12 in the room with me and 8 at home.
