Classroom Decor

July 23, 2013 By Mary Amoson 18 Comments

Classroom Decor Linky is here…
this is the next in our Summer Linky Party!
And what a great day I had!
I was able to head to my classroom to get it ready for the new year.
My carpets got cleaned and the floor got waxed, so I was able to reset the things that got mixed up.
AND I worked on getting my new classroom decor up and ready for the new year.
I am now allowed on a ladder, so changing things up is def going to be happening!
The first thing I did was take down my old number chart… I went from the old to the new!
Oh my word… I love the new number chart so much!
Then I put up my new alphabet… but I didn’t take a picture of it because I forgot.
here is what they alphabet looks like.
AND… I had to give up my old word wall.
I never loved it, but once it was up… I didn’t want to change it up because it took so long to put it up!
I pulled the ugly red paper down today… but I am still working on the new word wall… check out the “new” to see what I am imagining my new word wall to look like…
I made these paper versions at school today but I wasn’t able to laminate it.
THEN I got home and my mind kept going and going. The more I looked at them the more I wanted to play around with it in the digital aspect.
Here is what I came up with!
What do you think? Blue border or no blue border???
I am so glad the laminator wasn’t working now… because my word wall might be looking better than I imagined! Once I get cracking on which is better, I will have to add them to the word wall pack for sure!
Here is a peek at my Monkey Classroom Set and my Owl Classroom Set if you like what you see and want these things in your classroom.

I am linking up to Lidia’s Linky Party at

I like the more colorful ones. I never thought of making a word wall with a sheet for each letter! I always build mine with only their names on it at the beginning of the year. If I went with the single sheet like you, I would make the words different colors because that's the way we find the word during writing. Or maybe put a different color shadow behind each to emphasize the shape like the word configuration boxes. You've got me thinking now about how to change up mine.

Is the laminator out of paper or does it need repair? Guess I shouldn't have stayed away all summer. 😉

Not broken, just out of film. I have E with me so I couldn't change it out with one hand… no worries Jo… my word wall will be better than ever… then I will laminate away! hehe

I like the blue border but what if you alternated every other letter. One blue, one not, etc. Or one blue and one with another color! Would help separate each letter!!! Just a thought 🙂 We painting my cabinets 4 different colors so each letter is a different color on my word wall! I can't wait to see it all complete 🙂

I'm glad I "found" you! I like the blue border as well, but have you thought of making the vowels a different color border? Make them stand apart!

Great job! You might consider NOT laminating; often glare can be a problem… I love Jan's idea about the vowels being in a different color, also. I am very impressed with your blog. Kudos!
