This week we learned about the ch sound.
One of my sweeties told their parents that this week was going to be extra tough because we weren’t learning about ONE letter, but two letters together. {I love the mind of a kinder!}
I can’t let this awesome sound to be push aside. It is a HUGE sound and it confuses kids unless we make it as much fun as possible.
This week we worked on my new ch book called Check Out ch. My kids cut out the letters ch individually and glued them into the book to create the ch words like cheese and cherry.
We also worked on our ch phonic sheets. My class does their sheets on paper and on iPads because that is how we roll. You can see an image of the ch phonics on the iPad. Super FUN!
We also worked on words that have a ch IN them. I wanted to focus on more ch words than those with the initial ch because so many words have the ch in them. So we clapped out ch words and marked the box that shows where the ch comes in that word.
I also created a new ch letter formation sheets. My kids will practice their handwriting without a complaint when I use these sheets. It cracks me up. I want to squeal… YOU ARE STILL DOING HANDWRITING… but I don’t… I would never… I just smile as they run to see what ch picture they are going to be able to write on today.
Lastly, we matched the cheese letters to the mouse sounds. I don’t know why the mouse cards make me happy, but they do. I LOVE them. {Of course, mice were a lot less cute when they were alive and running around in my classroom.}
When we return from Thanksgivign Break, we are learning about the letter Uu.
Let the prep begin! I am going to cover the long and short sound.
What struggles do you face when working on the ch sound?
{I hate the ch and tr confusion! I made sure to add this sheet
to the pack to cover the confusion.}
Here is the pack if you want some great specific ch materials for your little loves!

This looks amazing! Thank you for sharing. I love the paper the children are doing where they have to put the X in the spot that corresponds with the sound. Great idea! We don't have iPads in our classrooms, but how did you get your worksheet on there and do all of your students have one to work with?
