Center Saturday time is upon us.This post is all about the weekly work centers my class completed last week during our math center time.I like to tie our learning into content areas like our letter sounds
and unit of study.
We were learning about Native Americans for Thanksgiving
and the Letter Uu, which is part of this bundle.
The yellow center was a fun Native American Fill the Ten Frame game.
All of my
adore this game.
My students roll the fun dice
{Yes, there is a paper version as well, but I personally adore the cube instead.}
Whichever picture lands on top of the roll tell my students which to “fill” in the ten frame that matches it. My students LOVE to color the ten frame the same color as the die.
They also say the word of the image as the color it in.
We also use the same ten frame sheet to practice writing our numbers.
Here is an example.
completed their Fill the Ten Frame this way this time.
We also count up each picture and compare the ten frames to see which has the most, the least, or the same amount.
Our orange table was this Pilgrim Number Writing to 50.
We have been working our way up to writing this many numbers all year.
I love watching my learners use the numbers given and number sense to fill in the missing numbers.
Here are some more busy hands working away.
The red table was a fun number fill in.
I used these Carson Dellosa notepads and some simple number strips cut apart
and laminated to make these cornucopia fill ins.
Writing on themed notepads makes this activity so much more fun and inviting.
Purple table was this Native American necklace making station.
We used dyed pasta and yarn to make our necklaces.
I let the pattern open eneded so my students could make theirs however they wanted.
The blue center was so much fun!
We love to use paint in every and many way we can…
so today we used blue paint and q tips to make these rain drop for our umbrellas.
{Remember we are learning about the Letter Uu this week, which is part of this bundle.}
Here was the center basket we used.
I provided their papers on the bottom, babywipes which were already opened,
a cup of paint barely filled, and a few q tips.
{Yes, I always use a baggie in my paint cup for easy clean up.}
We also used the umbrella sheet, which was double sided.
One side had the teen numbers on it.
And the other had single digit numbers on it.
Most of my students are ready to build two digit numbers but a few little learners still need this practice.
{And yes many of my students wanted to do BOTH sides.
This made a slight mess on our tables, which I don’t care about at all.
We also hung their paper up to dry instead of filing it away.
Kinder isn’t suppose to be neat and tidy… a little mess is GOOD.
And I have the baby wipes right there for my little ones to clean up themselves.
This week we learned using these two unit….
