This week we are learning about the oo sounds like hook and moon.
We are working on insects, the word these, and adding big numbers.
Math- I made a hard addition game with notepad paper. I cut the heads from the bodies then laminated. The students have to match the bug head with the body, making a correct addition sentence. (50 problems at one center too!)
Writing- using our word wall and a prepped paper, students selected a bug to write about. They had to use two words to describe it and tell me what it does. They also had to tell me why they liked it and draw a colorful picture of it.
Reading- This is a Lakeshore sentence building center. My kids pulled it off the shelf last week and thought it was fun. They LOVED it, so I made it a center this week.
Phonics- sorting oo words into oo like hook, oo like moon, or none of these!
Unit- We did a fun insect graph and are continuing to watch our potato grow. The potato now has lots of purple roots and is just starting to sprout little white roots!
